I will be sending this home in letter form as well. We will not be having homework or spelling this week. Any and all extra time will be dedicated to a writing gift your children are preparing for you. Please realize that each of your young ones are at a different level in writing. While I could go through and grade each one and make it perfect, I felt that would take away from the authenticity. I want these to be their work. I critique enough of their writing. In this instance I felt that the pressure should be off, and the children be given the freedom to just write from the heart.
If the spelling is atrocious, be glad that they are trying to expand vocabulary and not just use easy words. If the hand writing is muddled, please realize each story went through several drafts and their poor little hands are tired. Just take the "parent hats" off for a moment and soak up the realization that a child spent hours to create something unique for just you. If we all do that, I am sure we can all be very proud.
